    Mechanical Properties of ASTM B 166 UNS N06600 / N06690 Wires

    Usually two nickel-chromium-iron alloys are applied to cold-drawn wires which are supplied in coils: ASTM B 166 UNS N06600 (Inconel 600) and ASTM B 166 UNS N06690(Inconel 690). The mechanical properties vary for different conditions and sizes.

    1. Mechanical Properties of Inconel 600 and Inconel 690 wires, annealed.

    For inconel 600 and Inconel 690 wires under 0.81mm, 552MPa  tensile strength ≤ 793MPa; For sizes 0.81mm and over, 552MPa  tensile strength ≤ 724MPa.

    2. Mechanical Properties of Inconel 600 and Inconel 690 wires, regular temper.

    For cold drawn Inconel 600 and 690 wires which are regularly tempered, the minimum tensile strength is 827MPa.

    3. Mechanical Properties of Inconel 600 and Inconel 690 spring wires, tempered.

    For spring wires of Inconel 600/690 which are tempered, the maximum tensile strength is 1138MPa while the minimum tensile strengths are listed below:

    The wire shall be wrapped eight consecutive turns in a closed helix (pitch approximately equal to the diameter of the wire) around a mandrel as follows:
    1) For all annealed and regular temper wire and spring temper wire with a diameter ≤ 5.82mm: same as diameter of wire.
    2) For spring temper wire over 5.82mm: twice the diameter of wire.
