    EN 10253-1 Pipe Fittings: Inspection and Test

    1. Chemical analysis and mechanical test for EN 10253-1 pipe fittings

    The chemical analysis of each cast shall be carried out by manufacturer as well as yield strength test, tensile strength test and hardness test. The tensile test shall be in accordance with EN 10002-1. The test piece shall be taken in the longitudinal direction and shall not be flattened. Brinell hardness test according to EN 10003-1 shall be carried out on fittings with a diameter equal to or less than 114.3 mm in lieu of a tensile test. Both test results of chemical composition and mechanical properties shall be in conformance to that stipulated by EN 10253-1.

    2. Dimensional inspection and visual examination.

    All dimensions measured shall conform to the tolerances of EN 10253-1. Defects and imperfections shall be avoided on inside and outside surfaces. The inspection procedure shall be clearly organized, recorded and archived.

    3. NDT of the weld.

    if the butt welding pipe fitting conforming to EN 10253-1 is made from plates or welded pipes where welding process is inevitable, the weld shall be fully X-ray inspected(RT). Under purchasers' request, Magnetic Powder Inspection(MPI) is also available.
